The Truck Fleet at Ryder is in need of a skilled Master Level Mobile Fleet Service Technician to join their team on a permanent full-time basis through the Torque division.

  • Applicants who have worked in a relevant field for three years or more are preferred
  • The favored selection for licensing is the NonCommercial Driver License CLASS E
  • Candidates with a valid CDL CLASS A are preferred
  • Essential need for holding driver's license from a different state
  • Capable of conducting mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium-duty equipment based on a background of at least two years in the field

  • Essential Air Brake (BA220&BA298) Service within 90 Days
  • The guidelines presented in FMCS 396.25 are designed to ensure the proficiency and reliability of brake mechanics and inspectors
  • The Hydraulic Brake (BH220&BH298) must be ready for use within 90 days
  • The 90-day timeframe is allotted for claims under the Tire & Wheel TW220 policy
  • CF609 & A/C trained and qualified (AC220&AC298) within 180 Days
  • The DR208 should be handed in to HD Electrical within 90 days
  • Within the 180-day timeframe, Island Support is mandated to complete both SBTIII (SBT220) and SBT Phase 2 training
  • Meet the demand of Location Fleet MI's fleet management by enrolling in and finishing two stipulated online diagnostic tool software courses provided by the primary OEM of the fleet
  • A high school diploma or similar equivalent is the preferred credential
  • Vocational or technical certifications are preferred over other qualifications post-secondary degrees

  • Proficiency and demonstrated applied knowledge in the maintenance of automotive gas or diesel engines are fundamental, focusing on:
  • Routine preventative maintenance, such as changing the oil and servicing brakes and tires, is necessary to uphold your vehicle's performance
  • The assistance offered extends to diagnosing and repairing electrical and AC systems efficiently
  • Skilled proficiency in undertaking high-level repair tasks that may involve major engine renovations, diesel aftertreatment maintenance, or automotive fuel injection system repairs
  • Candidates with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience are encouraged to apply
  • A CLASS E NonCommercial Driver License is the recommended option
  • An active Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is the preferred credential

This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers, demonstrate expertise in account management to autonomously oversee preventative maintenance tasks, resolve repair matters, and provide clients with estimates for new repair considerations.
  • Manage the work timetable based on customer needs. Conduct vehicle road tests to determine the origins of complaints for fixing, validate the excellence of repair tasks done, and guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repair obligations entail a range of responsibilities:
  • Operate the air conditioning and heating mechanisms to assess their functionality and troubleshoot any cooling discrepancies within the context of preventive maintenance. Inspect key components like the compressor's power supply, visually review the condenser, confirm belt tension, and execute relevant system inspections. Recognize and repair any leaks comprising Freon and oil that could impact the system's proper operation
  • Identifying the components of an air brake system is crucial; operating the brakes efficiently and quickly spotting any unusual noises or air leaks is necessary; conducting simple air system tests is a part of the regular checks; measuring the thickness of linings accurately is important; adjusting the brakes carefully is essential; performing the air brake sections during preventative maintenance is required; measuring drums, rotors, and cam bushings precisely should be done; executing brake repairs following the guidelines of (BA298) is acceptable post proper training and being qualified
  • Brakes-Hydraulic: Road test for proper operation; Make visual inspections for leaks; Check park brake operation; Check fluid level; Measure lining thickness; Adjust service brakes; Perform brake repairs per (BH298) once trained and qualified; Adjust park brakes
  • Spot common issues with the liftgate's functionality
  • Charging Systems (electrical): Visually inspect batteries; Clean connections; Check condition of belts; Test batteries; Check alternator mounting and pulley; Replace and adjust belts; Perform basic charging system check
  • Ensure adequate lubrication for the throw-out bearing, linkage, shafts, and cables of the clutch system; Identify the proper operation of both the clutch system and the clutch brake
  • Regular Monitoring of Coolant Levels: Regularly check and adjust the coolant levels in the system; visually examine the system for any leaks or issues; make minor repairs such as replacing hoses, adjusting fan shrouds, or fixing leaky connections; understand the requirements of different types of long-lasting antifreeze; use tools like a refractometer and pressure tester for assessment purposes; carry out flushing and refilling procedures routinely
  • Addressing any faulty cables through replacement or repair is vital for the proper functioning of the Cranking System in terms of its electrical components
  • Repairing and adjusting sealed beams, along with the installation of various accessories like fans and spotlights, are services we specialize in
  • Thoroughly examine the drive axle housings to detect any leaks present, then proceed to replace the oil and filter as needed, and make sure the breathers are cleaned effectively
  • It is essential to inspect all driveline parts for wear or damage in addition to applying lubrication
  • Periodically examine the oil levels in gas engines and other types of engines to maintain optimal performance. Identify and address any strange noises or oil leakage that may suggest maintenance is necessary
  • Maintenance tasks include replacing the fuel filter, priming it, and ensuring the integrity of fuel system components like fuel lines and pickup tubes
  • Engaging in thorough maintenance practices, such as verifying brake effectiveness, checking the applied stroke, and identifying fault codes promptly, plays a significant role in upholding vehicle safety and operational efficiency
  • Inspect steering and non-driven axles for proper lubrication of grease fittings and adjustment of fluid levels. Ensure toe alignment is correct and assess wear on steering components. Align trailer axles and adjust wheel bearings, replacing wheel seals if needed
  • Suspension-Chassis and Cab: Identify makes and models; Identify normal operation; Identify and repair minor air leaks; Identify malfunctions of basic nature, broken springs, excessive wear on bushings, etc
  • Skillfully install and remove tires as well as execute the necessary rotations to promote even wear
  • Apply lubricant to the fifth wheel plate and slider mechanism in the Vehicle Coupling System (PM) and operate the slider mechanism to verify smooth movement
  • Utilize the fundamental functions of the Shop Management System and electronic paperwork available for use. Perform tasks in alignment with the safety, DOT regulations, and corporate compliance guidelines as mandated by federal/provincial authorities. Refer to both internal and external maintenance documents for comprehensive support
  • Executes additional tasks as directed.
  • Secure the appropriate management of service, safety, and environmental documentation to meet or exceed mandates from corporate and government bodies.
  • Obligated to adhere to crucial maintenance indicators established by company guidelines concerning the inspection and proficiency of PMs, brakes, tires, wheels, and any maintenance obligations directly linked to customer safety.
  • Help develop talents at the SM II level.
